With a range of innovative features, smart technologies, and advanced powertrains, the Ford Transit Custom is more capable and refined than ever. The FordPass Connect modem and FordPass Pro app work together to unlock a range of connectivity features. These include tracking the location of your van through your phone, and receiving Vehicle Health Alerts to help stay on top of maintenance. Technology like Blind Spot Information System and Traffic Sign Recognition help to increase awareness. There’s up to 6.8 cubic metres of load space and the option to add a tow bar or roof rack if you need to carry moreTooltip.
The Transit Custom provides impressive load space in all three dimensions: load length, width (from wheel arch to wheel arch) and usable interior height. As a result, the Transit Custom can easily carry standard 8’ x 4’ boards placed on their side or flat on the floor, three euro pallets and, thanks to its unique load-through storage area, items up to 3m long. Overall, the van provides a cavernous six cubic metres of load space with a bulkhead fitted – and that’s just the short wheelbase (L1) version. The long wheelbase (L2) offers 6.8 cubic metres. A wide side load door-opening, optimised opening height and a low rear access step ensures effortless access to load space. The sliding doors also have a checking mechanism which holds them securely open for loading.
Transit Custom is full of handy stowage spaces. For example, there’s easy access stowage in the instrument panel. A concealed, lockable glove-box is big enough to hold A4 hanging files and, depending on which Series you choose, it can be illuminated too. There’s also convenient under-seat stowage for valuables. A retractable cup-holder is positioned between the driver and front passenger seats (only available with manual transmission). Even the vehicle’s doors are designed to maximise space with large pockets that can accommodate an A4 clipboard and a 2-litre drink bottle.
Optional super-bright, energy efficient LED lights for the load area are invaluable when you’re working inside the back of your van. They’re another simple, yet practical innovation.
For improved fuel economy and lower emissions, choose the Transit Custom mild Hybrid. Its Ford EcoBlue diesel engine is assisted during normal driving by an electric motor. At lower speeds, or when stationary, the engine can switch itself off to save fuel, and the 48V starter-generator seamlessly restarts when needed. Its separate 48V lithium-ion battery is automatically recharged by regenerative braking and during coasting. So you never need to connect it to an external power source.
Improved power and torque are delivered by a range of Ford EcoBlue 2.0 litre engines. Already complying with stringent Euro Stage 6.2 emissions legislation, the benefits of these advanced powertrains are enhanced by a series of smart, economical technologies.
Selectable Drive Modes allows you to tailor your Transit Custom’s performance by choosing from two available drive modes: Normal and for maximum efficiency, EcoMode. The system adjusts various settings to optimise performance for the conditions. These include throttle response and steering feel, as well as gear-change behaviour on vehicles with automatic transmission.
As business becomes smarter and more connected, so have our vehicles. The Transit Custom now comes with FordPass Connect, allowing you to connect to the FordPass Pro app. A valuable tool to keep in your pocket, the app gives you remote control of your van, and will keep learning about you, your work and the world around it with every update. So, while you’re making plans for what lies ahead, FordPass Pro has your back. With focussed support on Security, Productivity and Vehicle Health.
Ford SYNC 3 is an advanced system that enables you to stay connected and control your phone, music and navigation system. Choose either voice commands or the 8” colour touchscreen with pinch-and-swipe gestures for intuitive navigation. Live Traffic‡ can help you avoid the jams. You can even call up a list of local restaurants simply by saying “I’m hungry”*.
The Transit Custom is available with an optional perimeter alarm system, which is set off if the doors or bonnet are opened by force. A more sophisticated Thatcham Category 1 alarm system is also available. This automatically arms itself when you lock the vehicle and a powerful alarm sounds if triggered by forced entry, the vehicle being lifted, or if the motion sensors pick up any movement inside.
For added peace of mind, the FordPass Pro app delivers an extra level of security on top of your Transit Custom’s regular alarm system. With SecuriAlert activated, you’ll receive a notification if FordPass Pro detects someone trying to gain access to your vehicle – even with a stolen or mimicked key.
Ford Transit and Transit Custom have been named two of the top-performing vans for active safety, in the Euro NCAP test of Europe’s 19 best-selling vans.
Euro NCAP is Europe’s leading independent safety organisation, which evaluates the safety of any new vehicle using a series of stringent measures.
In tests that represented daily real-world work, both the Transit and Transit Custom have earned the Euro NCAP Gold award. All of Transit’s safety features are designed and scrutinised to deliver this top-level service, helping to keep you, your cargo and other road users safe and your business on the road.
(Some driver assist technology features are available as options at additional cost)
Load Adaptive Control adjusts the Electronic Stability Control according to the overall weight you’re carrying. This ensures control and stability whether your Transit Custom is empty or fully loaded.
